Do you have hard times letting go?
Is there anything that keeps coming up for you?
Sometimes we find ourselves wondering why we can't let go of some things even after we've tried to #forgive and heal.
The core issue is in the fact that we don't take the time to process or #heal the initial wound, thinking that what was in the past is in the past...
...that there is nothing you can do to change it so you might as well just move on.
As tempting, this strategy is it's the trap we set for ourselves.
Let me show ✍🏼you HOW.
If you really have something bothering and hurting you that ought to be resolved, "letting go" sounds good on paper, but you can rest assured that it will come back later to haunt you and your #love life.
It often starts this way...
When you don't heal the wound, you give it power. Something small turns into something egregiously powerful.
How many times have you gotten annoyed or triggered by something - often something small - and the thing took on a life on its own?
You've told your ex how important it is to you to have coconut milk in the house at all times. You cannot eat your breakfast without it.
The world knows it.
And now...no coconut milk in the house. And you are, as they say, "carrying on."
You're worried about whether your ex-husband is spending enough time with your 7-months-old daughter.
You know the fact that your father walked out on your mother when you were an infant plays into this, but it is almost intolerable to you when you see your ex make what looks like perfunctory contact with your child.
And now he's playing his guitar and little Sarah's in an infant carrier, and for several minutes, your ex doesn't seem to be looking at her.
And you are, as they say, "carrying on."
Wanting your ex or your future partner to be mindful of your special needs is perfectly legitimate. But what's not legitimate is wanting them to fill the void that is ONLY yours to fill.
